Friends' Projects In addition to the individual work of members of the Friends acting as volunteers at the Museum, the Friends undertake various Projects from time to time, in co-operation with the Curator. Acting as a group, the Friends are able to make a positive contribution to the Aldershot Military Museum and help to preserve our heritage for the future. An ongoing project is the photographic recording of the parts of Aldershot Military Town which will be given over to civilian development for the Aldershot Urban Extension. With the co-operation of the Army authorities, the Friends are recording the barracks as they become empty and before being handed over to developers. |

Purchase of the "Community Case" for the new Boyce Building, in which local community groups can be given space for displays of their activities to a wider public. The Friends also funded the copying of plans of the Boyce Barracks for the historical display in the building. |
Research, design and erection of interpretative boards by the great Wellington Statue to inform visitors of its history and significance. |

Contribution to the acquisition of a high quality figure of a Signals Officer of 1944 for the Museum's military gallery. |
Purchase of spare parts to keep the Museum's Jeep in roadworthy condition. This jeep, dating from 1944, was used by General Horrocks in World War Two. |

Purchase of a display case for the re-furbished John Reed Gallery at the Museum. |
Funding the
acquisition of a reproduction First World War tunic for the Museum's
educational activities |

Preservation
and conservation of a rare recruiting poster from the 1920's, printed by Gale
and Polden of Aldershot. |
Preservation
and conservation of important documents from the Boer War
period. |

Purchase of an
album of rare photographs of Aldershot dating from around 1900. |
